Methods of extracting vocals. You can gimmick IzoTope RX's processing into treating a section of audio with no vocals as a noise print and remove it, but you have to go piece by piece any time the backing music changes. To further edit the few loud hats out by cutting them right out of the track then extending the waveform using complex. Obviously there is no way to do this perfectly, but what is your guys' go to method for isolating the vocals from a full mix? Soloing the center channel and filtering off some low end can only get you so far, I am looking for something a little more in depth
I remember using a plugin by quik quak a few years back that did a decent job, which let you isolate specific parts of the audio spectrum by drawing in circles where you saw the most energy when the vocals were there. Does any other software offer something similar but more precise/better quality?

Audionamix TRAX Pro SP and iZotope Dia Isolate: update

Adx Tracx Pro Vs Izotope Rx 5

I promised I'd post an update after doing some journal article research on these two Neural Network-equipped audio tools. Bottom line:
1. They both work.
2. They aren't magic: you will hear artifacts, if you try to do things they're not equipped for.
Both manufacturers were gracious enough to give me time and Skype access to their senior developers, along with NFRs for testing. It turned into an article for the quarterly journal of Cinema Audio Society, explaining how Neural Networks actually work and why they're different from any other processing or plug-in architecture we've had before.
Article includes a web page with downloadable samples, which I generated using actual film production tracks.
Article is not comprehensive reviews. They weren't appropriate for current issue (because it's also the annual equipment awards issue). But they'll be coming in future months.
